Sophia B. Lau (pronouns: she/her) is an Assistant Professor at University of Hawaii at Manoa Thompson School of Social Work and Public Health. Dr. Lau's research interests at large include health disparities and socio-cultural determinants of health with special attention paid to mental health literacy and help-seeking patterns across Asian ethnic groups and other underrepresented populations. Her direct practice experience and professional roles includes mental health provider and program coordinator for an at-risk youth substance abuse and suicide prevention and early intervention program.
