Jo Ann R. Regan, PhD, MSW, FNAP is the Dean of the National Catholic School of Social Service (NCSSS) at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., USA. Prior to coming to NCSSS, she worked for nine years at the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), the national association in the United States representing social work education with over 800 accredited baccalaureate and master’s degree programs and educators advancing quality social work education. She has taught in several social work programs including the University of South Carolina, University of Hawaii, and California State University-Long Beach, and practiced in child welfare and the mental health field as a social worker.
Dr. Regan is considered a national and international expert in the areas of accreditation, curriculum innovation, interprofessional and online education and consulted with numerous social work programs in these areas. Her research and publications have focused on distance education and the use of technology for social work education and practice, competency assessment, and accreditation. She was inducted as a social work fellow of the National Academies of Practice in 2019 and selected for a 2021 Fulbright Scholar research award in the Czech Republic where she studied social work education competencies and professionalization.
