Emily Saltzman, LSW (she/her) is an Assistant Professor of the Practice at University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work. Emily is a community organizer, social worker, and educator skilled in macro practice and focuses her work on building partnerships, program management, and community engagement. In her role at GSSW she is a member of the Field Team where she works with students and partner organizations to advocate for successful internship experiences. Emily also serves on the Selection Committee of GSSW’s newly formed Mutual Aid Fellowship, where student interns partner with organizations and collectives leading the mutual aid efforts in Denver. Before joining GSSW, Emily spent over a decade building community-based initiatives in New York City and Minneapolis. Emily has held positions at Gay Men's Health Crisis, Planned Parenthood of Greater NY, The Jewish Social Justice Roundtable, Partnership with Children, Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis, and Keshet. She received her MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College in New York City. Emily credits her Social Work internship experiences at Queers for Economic Justice and The Undoing Racism Internship Project for shaping her professional values and laying a foundation of a radical social work framework that showed her the true power of community.
