Dr. Suzanne Velázquez, PhD, LCSW is the BSW Program Director at Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare and a Clinical Associate Professor, teaching social work practice and human rights courses. Her research and publication areas include human rights, community development, service-learning,cultural competency, leadership, transformative learning, higher education policy, organizational culture management, and women's life-work issues. Her practice experience includes organizational administration, community organizing, direct clinical practice with individuals and families, and serves as a clinical supervisor for private practitioners. As part of her University service, Dr. Velázquez is past-President and serves on the Executive Board for the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce. As part of her service to the profession, Dr. Velázquez serves on CSWE's Commission on Global Social Work Education Human Rights Committee and is an active member of NASW and BPD.
