Latoya Attis has nearly 20 years of experience working to increase equity and inclusion for marginalized students and has done so in both higher education and nonprofit settings. Latoya currently serves as the Associate Director of Academic Advising and Advocacy for Yeshiva University, Wurzweiler School of Social Work, and Adjunct Faculty for Iona College, Department of Psychology where she leads efforts in the engagement of social and academic growth and development of students. She holds a BA in Psychology from Marymount Manhattan College, an M.Ed from Mercy College, M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Iona College, and is currently a PhD Candidate at Wurzweiler School of Social Work, Yeshiva University.
As a recipient of the first cohort of the inaugural Council on Social Work Education-Society for Social Work and Research (CSWE-SSWR-GADE) Social Work Doctoral Student Policy Forum, Latoya is looking to make a stronger link between her research and policy to improve equitable outcomes for marginalized students.
Her research interests include increasing social equity in classroom settings, disability laws, retention, and graduation, particularly for students with disabilities at institutions of higher education.
