Dr. Leitch (she/they) is a social worker practitioner, educator, and scholar whose work focuses on improving social work practice for marginalized groups via high-impact, qualitative and mixed-method research projects. Her recent projects include research on transgender and gender nonbinary experiences of health and mental health care in rural areas in the Southern U.S. as well as work exploring the experiences of nonbinary indigenous and Hispanic peoples' experiences of sexual assault. Dr. Leitch emphasizes the importance of capturing participants' voices in her research and is committed to using research analyses that incorporate stakeholders. She uses her 10+ years of experience as a psychotherapist to ensure her research is able to be applied to practice in order to maximize its impact.
