Dr (Maj) Carrie Lucas is an officer in the U.S. Air Force, currently stationed at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma. Dr Lucas provides oversight for all outpatient behavioral health services for Headquarters Air Force Sustainment Center, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, five Wings, and 45 associate units for 17,000 enrolled patients. Dr Lucas is also the Biomedical Sciences Corps Executive for the 72d Medical Group.
Since joining the Air Force in 2009 she has provided clinical and administrative oversight of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment (ADAPT) and Family Advocacy programs, provided behavioral health treatment for active duty members, dependents, and retirees, ensured compliance with the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), completed her PhD at the University of Southern California, and served as faculty and the Chief of Behavioral Medicine for 36 family medicine residents and Deputy Flight Commander, Family Medicine Residency Clinic. Prior to her current role, she was the Mental Health Flight Commander at Osan AB, Republic of Korea.
Her research includes highlighting experiences and evident disparities for active-duty members and veterans, with an emphasis on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals and those who have experienced military-related sexual trauma (i.e., sexual harassment, gender discrimination, stalking, and/or sexual assault). Finally, Dr Lucas is a member of the Department of the Air Force Women’s Initiatives Team that created Line of Effort #9 (LOE #9) to address sexual harassment, stalking, and sexual assault. LOE #9 reviewed the Secretary of Defense Memo dated Feb 2021 and provided 52 recommendations.
