Carol’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Social Work with a minor in psychology from Pittsburg State University and a Master of Science in Clinical Social Work from The University of Kansas with an emphasis in military mental health. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate at Our Lady of the Lake University, with her dissertation emphasizing in Military Sexual Trauma (MST). In addition, Carol is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, a life member of the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, and a life member of The Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Carol is a former social worker specializing in foster care in the state of Kansas as well as a former employee with the US Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) assigned under the Veteran Benefits Administration (VBA) at Ft. Snelling, located in St. Paul, Minnesota where she served veterans at a social work capacity. Furthermore, Carol is a US Army veteran with service spanning over the course of 12-years includes a combat deployment to Iraq in which she received a Purple Heart. Carol and her husband, Chris, have two children: Heidi, age nine, and Larkin, age six. Outside of work, she enjoys her hobby farm, reading, exercising, and spending time with family.
