Jade Presnell completed her undergraduate education at Butler University in 2007 where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and English. Following this she attended DePaul University and earned a Master of Science in Psychology in 2009. Jade has over a decade of practice experience in community mental health, serving in a variety of arenas, including outpatient and residential services supporting youth and adults with behavioral health needs. Since 2015 she has served as a Behavioral Consultant supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. She loves her “job” and finds it an honor to serve and work alongside the disability community. Finding her passion for social work, Jade obtained a Master of Social Work from Indiana University in 2016. Following graduation, she completed an international internship in Geneva, Switzerland with the World Health Organization working as part of the QualityRights project to improve quality of care and promote human rights in mental health services globally. At present she is a doctoral student, research assistant, and adjunct faculty with the Indiana University School of Social Work where she engages in advocacy, research, and teaching with the aim of building more inclusive and equitable communities. Her research interests include disability, inclusion, trauma-informed care, and human rights-based approaches to social work practice.
