Suzanne Shatila, DSW, MSSW, LGSW, is the Master of Social Work Program Director for the University of Minnesota — Twin Cities School of Social Work. Since 2002, Shatila has been involved in mezzo and macro-level social work practice with human services, children's services, and community-based nonprofits. She has been a social work educator since 2010, primarily working with nontraditional students enrolled in online postsecondary programs. Shatila earned her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee College of Social Work and her Doctorate of Social Work from the University of St. Thomas. Her research focuses on the influence of nontraditional student social location and role identity on social connectedness as well as on incorporating feminist and anti-racist pedagogies in social work education to foster greater nontraditional student belonging and retention.
