Dr. Del Quest practiced as a clinical social worker prior to beginning her teaching career in 2013. Her teaching focuses on preparing social work students to offer culturally responsive services while navigating the diverse and challenging situations they will face in the field. She developed and teaches courses on suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention to two MSW programs. Her research includes topics related to suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention, effectiveness of online training for social workers, LGBTQ youth, and youth in out-of-home care.
Dr. Quest devotes extensive time to service activities including serving as the community co-chair for the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Lane County. This group provides suicide prevention trainings to all sectors of the county, support and resources to county schools, and is one of the most active coalitions in the state of Oregon. Dr. Quest is committed to bringing awareness to the urgent need for suicide-specific content to be included in all social work education.
