Livia A. Polise is a social worker and certified yoga instructor. She earned her M.S.W. at the Hunter College School of Social Work. Ms. Polise has worked in shelters, hospitals, community-based agencies, and private practice, integrating mindfulness and yoga therapy into her social work practice. As a consultant, Ms. Polise has developed and implemented training on topics such as facilitating critical conversations, reclaiming conflict, effective cross-cultural communication, and leadership, and has facilitated organizational development and strategic planning workshops for both nonprofit and for-profit corporations. She maintains a steadfast commitment to ADEI and social justice, and to elevating and centering the professional social work community as agents of change and leaders in the face of complex social contexts and oppressive systems. Ms. Polise serves as the Director of Field Education for the Adelphi University School of Social Work, and is a Ph.D. candidate in Adelphi’s Ph.D. in Social Work program.
