Alysse Loomis is a licensed clinical social worker and Assistant Professor in the College of Social Work at the University of Utah. She worked as trauma clinician for over six years in Connecticut, with a specialty in early childhood trauma. She teaches Trauma-Informed Practice and Child Abuse & Neglect courses in the Master and Bachelor of Social Work program at the U. Her current research is focused on understanding what is needed to make preschools and other early childhood systems trauma-informed and equitable. Specifically she looks at the influence of trauma-informed training on teacher attitudes and practices as well as the intersection between trauma and expulsion. Dr. Loomis is the President of the Utah Association of Infant Mental Health and is an appointed member of the Council on Social Work Education & Erikson Institute Task Force on Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and Developmental Neuroscience.
