Susan E. Mason, Ph.D, is Professor of Social Work and Sociology at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work, Yeshiva University. She publishes extensively in the fields of schizophrenia, public education, cultural diversity, health and hospital practice, and social work education. Additionally, she contributed to multiple grant funded research projects in gerontology, schools and communities, and child welfare. She is co-author of Diagnosis Schizophrenia, Columbia University Press, Community Health Care in Cuba, Oxford University Press, and School-Linked Services, Promoting Equity for Children, Families and Communities, Columbia University Press. Currently she is co-authoring a handbook on Writing Skills for Social Work Students. Dr. Mason remains committed to social work education on both the masters and doctoral levels and teaches courses in both programs at Wurzweiler. An active member of the Council on Social Work Education, she served two terms on the Commission on Educational Policy and is currently active on the Council on Practice Methods and Specializations. Dr. Mason’s most recent research interests include social and economic justice in public education, evidence-based practices for families with special needs children, and social work initiated mental health delivery with emphasis on clinical trials participation. . A graduate of Columbia University, New York University, the University of Chicago, and City University of New York (CUNY), Dr. Mason remains focused on teaching, researching, and writing on social work’s commitment to underserved children, families, and communities.
