Limor Smith, MS, MSW is a PhD student at the Graduate College of Social Work at the University of Houston. She is a co-investigator for the Jewish Mental Health Study examining stigma toward mental illness. Her dissertation focuses on the association between illness perceptions and illness identity with self-stigma among emerging adults with bipolar disorder. She is interested in individual differences related to self-stigma and resilience among individuals with bipolar disorder. Limor wants to investigate how self-stigma fluctuates and changes across the lifespan. She wants to research and design interventions to reduce self-stigma among individuals recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
