Lydia Ogden is a professor of social work and licensed clinical social worker whose research and pedagogy focuses on understanding social phenomena that surround mental health challenges. Projects have ranged from collecting and analyzing life histories of older adults with schizophrenia-spectrum diagnoses, to using focus groups to create an intervention to improve the experience of aging with mental illness. Her scholarship of teaching and learning focuses on enhancing inclusivity and mental wellbeing for students, with a focus on supporting students with psychiatric disabilities. Recently published articles appear in American Journal of Orthopsychiatry, Qualitative Health Research, Journal of Social Work Education, Journal of Social Service Research, and Journal of Aging Studies. She served as co-chair for the Council on Social Work Education’s Council on Disability and Persons with Disability from 2015-2018, and served on the Council from 2014-2020.
