4) Dr. Ann Chapleau, DHS, OTR/L, FAOTA, is Professor of Occupational Therapy at Western Michigan University. She has worked for 30+ years as a clinician, educator, and researcher in the behavioral health field. Over the past 10 years, she has focused on the study and development of outcome measurement for both clinical and academic settings, specifically Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS). She has been awarded over $3.2 MM in federal, state, and local funding to advance her work. She and her research team have developed a software platform using GAS and are studying the impact of digital tools on goal attainment through engagement and behavioral reinforcement. Her work has been widely disseminated in peer-reviewed journals, textbook chapters, and international, national, and state conferences. She was inducted into the American Occupational Therapy Association Roster of Fellows in 2021, awarded the 2019 WMU Interprofessional Collaboration Award, the 2016 WMU Assessment Excellence Award following two consecutive awards as Assessment Fellow, and received the 2012 Michigan Occupational Therapy Association’s Award for Excellence for Outstanding Global Contributions to the Profession. She was a founding member of the editorial board for the Open Journal of Occupational Therapy (OJOT) and invited guest editor for the summer 2015 special issue on assessment. She is passionate about improving assessment processes to improve quality of services at both the individual and program level.
