Desha Elliott is an alumnus of Northern Kentucky University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and Strayer University with a
Master’s Degree in Management. She is currently working on her Doctorate in Organizational Policy and Leadership at Clark Atlanta University.
A nontraditional social worker, Desha has a varied career in marketing, tech, and finance before becoming a social work and public policy researcher. Desha is the former Editor-in-Chief of Be Your Own Success Story Magazine (B.O.S.S), a nationally distributed educational publication for minority youth centered around highlighting success stories in business, entertainment, and tech. From this position, she transitioned her
media and storytelling skills for winning and mentoring technology pitch competitions. Within the tech industry, she has negotiated and executed contracts with multinational brands such as Reebok, Roland, and Magix. Currently, she is a business advisor for a multinational small business lender. Her research interests are social innovation, entrepreneurship, mental health, and community development.
