Husain Lateef is an assistant professor at the George Warren Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. Lateef completed his undergraduate education at Morehouse College and later completed his masters and doctoral education in Social Work from the University of Michigan and Arizona State University. Lateef's research explores the role African-centered approaches may have in improving outcomes of youth prevention programs for African American youth. Having authored theory-driven publications to advance knowledge in social work about culturally responsive practice with African American youth, he is currently examining the relationship between African-centered constructs and indicators of positive youth development among this population. Moreover, after years of working to support juvenile lifers who had been serving life-without-parole sentences in prison, his research is also aimed at improving the outcomes of former system-involved youth.
