Dr. Sherinah Saasa is an Assistant Professor of social work at Brigham Young University. Dr. Saasa, a licensed clinical social worker with experience in mental health treatment and community outreach, also serves as the director of a non-profit organization in sub- Saharan Africa that focuses on educational access and social development of orphans in kinship care and children in poverty. Her research focuses on African immigrant wellbeing, and the intersection of poverty, HIV/AIDS, gender and education inequality on the socioeconomic and health
outcomes of orphans and vulnerable children in sub-Saharan Africa.
