Elizabeth Sharda, PhD, LMSW, is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. She completed her doctoral studies at Michigan State University’s School of Social Work in 2020, where her dissertation research focused on the relationships between parenting stress, retention, wellbeing, and social support among licensed foster parents. Other areas of professional and research interest include compassion fatigue/secondary trauma, mindfulness, and belonging. Elizabeth worked in a variety of positions within the child welfare field for 13 years prior to entering academia, and has been a foster parent for 13 years.
