Dr. Soonok An is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Dr. An’s research expertise is racial equity and inclusion in services of intimate partner violence and preventive healthcare. Specifically, her research aims at eliminating barriers to accessing health and social services among racially marginalized populations. Currently, Dr. An is developing an intervention program called Helping Undergraduates Grow in Relationships (HUG-R) for African American college students. Its goal is to promote students’ understanding of healthy relationships and thereby to prevent them from engaging in dating violence. Dr. An was a Fahs-Beck Scholar/Fellow of the New York Community Trust.
