A motivated, versatile and registered social worker who has special interest in the advancement of the psychosocial functioning of people and social work as a profession. My training as a Social Worker was mainly in Zimbabwe. I did my Bachelor of Social Work (Honours Degree) at the University of Zimbabwe from 2008-2012. I then joined the Midlands State University as a student for my MSc in Social Work (Clinical). Immediately after completing my MSc, I was recruited as a Lecturer at the Midlands State University.
Besides being an academic, l have practiced as a Mental Health Social Worker in Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom. A client-centered practitioner who believes in diversity, human rights, competence and critical reflection with special interests in mental health. An author focusing on integrating developmental and clinical social work perspectives. I aim to expatiate on how socio-structural issues impact on clinical problems. I motivate on the biopsychosocial approach and an ecological systems theory to human assessments, treatment modalities and prevention measures. Currently, I have authored and published 8 articles as a lead author in International Journals of Social Work between 2020-2021. I have been cited globally by academics from different fields.
My research is informed by critical theories in Social Work practice and help link micro issues such as ill health to macro/ sociological issues. I am particularly interested in understanding the socio-structural issues that influence health and lead to human suffering. I am motivated to continually impart knowledge to Social Work students, practitioners and other professionals.
