Dr. Valerie Bryan is an Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of South Alabama. Dr. Bryan received the Ph.D. in Social Work (2005) from the University of Kentucky. While completing her doctorate at Kentucky, she developed an interest in program evaluation research, studying substance abuse treatment and child welfare programs and initiatives across the state. Her research interests continue in these areas at South Alabama, along with juvenile court initiatives. Her teaching interests are primarily in the areas of ethics, social welfare policy and macro practice, as well as macro social work theory. Dr. Bryan is an active member of the Council on Social Work Education, the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors, the Society for Social Work and Research,and the American Evaluation Association.
