Dr. Khadija Khaja grew up in Africa, and moved to Canada where she received her B.A., B.S.W., and M.S.W. degrees, and completed her Ph.D. in the United States. She is an Associate Professor at Indiana University, her teaching, research and service relates to international social work practice, Islamic social service delivery, impact of terrorism on Muslim communities, inter-faith peace building, ritual practices, children of war, human rights, and women's health. Dr. Khaja has served on the External Relations Council for the Global Commission of Social Work (CSWE), and has been invited to give presentations on her research around the world, including for example the Canadian Council of Muslim Women and the American Council of Muslim Women. She has received prestigious awards such as the Indiana University Faculty Women's Leadership Award, Chancellors' Multicultural Teaching Award, and was also appointed as a Faculty Fellow for the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor.
