Carrie Lanza is an assistant teaching professor at University of Washington School of Social Work where her pedagogical interests are social work and welfare policy history; culture-centered, community-engaged pedagogy, praxis, and research and transnational and comparative social work practice and welfare policy. Her research explores the integration of media and the arts with social work in both historical and contemporary contexts, ranging from the documentary photography and arts practices of the social settlement house movement during the Progressive era to the infinite variety of emerging contemporary practices with a focus on music and dance.
