Brian L. Kelly, PhD, MSW, CADC, is an Associate Professor at Loyola University Chicago in the School of Social Work. His research explores current and historical uses of recreational, art, and music-based activities in social work and related fields as sites and opportunities for strengths-based social work practice. He holds an associate degree in audio engineering and incorporates audio documentary and other audio-based ethnographic methodologies in his work as means to increase strengths-based, participatory research practices. Findings from his work have been presented at national and international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals and edited texts. Dr. Kelly is an advocate for the advancement of social work practice with groups and incorporates group work in his teaching, research, and scholarship.
