Cary Waubanascum is originally from the Land of the Menominee Nation (Wisconsin) and a member of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, Wakeny^ta (Turtle Clan). She is a wife and Aknulha (Mother/Aunty). After earning her bachelor’s degree from Alverno College and MSW from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, she spent ten years working as a social worker with Indigenous families and communities. She earned her PhD from the School of Social Work at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities in Mni Sota Makoce. She is currently an Assistant Professor in social work at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. Her research is focused on Indigenous and decolonizing social work and social work education.
