Cynthia Franklin, Ph.D., is the Stiernberg/Spencer Family Professor in Mental Health and Associate Dean for Doctoral Education in the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin. Franklin also holds a faculty fellow appointment at the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk in the Department of Special Education. She has over 150 publications in the professional literature and is a world-renowned scholar in school mental health. Her research examines the practice and effectiveness of solution-focused brief therapy with children and adolescents. She is the current Editor-in Chief for the Encyclopedia of Social Work and is the author of several books including, The School Services Sourcebook: A Guide for School-based Professionals (Oxford University Press), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy: A Handbook of Evidence-base Practice (Oxford University. Over the past twenty-five years, Franklin has worked as a therapist, consultant, trainer and researcher for schools and mental health agencies. She is a clinical fellow of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and holds practice licenses in clinical social work (LCSW) and marriage and family therapy (LMFT).
