Dr. Kendra Flores-Carter received her Doctor of Social Work degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at California Baptist University. Dr. Flores-Carter is currently a member of the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) IRB. She realized her love for research in 2017 as the only social worker to present at the ARMC Research Day. Recently completed a project that explored risk factors of pregnant families in San Bernardino County where she examined social determinants of health & the maternal health experiences in an effort to improve quality of care. Dr. Flores-Carter found a significant need to research health disparities & health equity issues faced by minority populations. Dr. Flores-Carter currently serves on the research leadership team for a first 5 grant funded project to develop a clinic tailored to the needs of pregnant Black women and pregnant women with incarceration history, with the overarching goal of improving pregnancy outcomes and perceived patient experiences. Dr. Flores-Carter also works as an adjunct professor at Simmons University in the Doctor of Social Work program. She has also worked as a national Maternal Mental Health Trainer for Postpartum Support International. Dr. Flores-Carter served 5 years as co-chair of the Inland Empire Maternal Mental Health Collaborative & is the founding and former president of Postpartum Support International-CA Chapter. She currently, chairs the mental health committee for the City of Fontana Police Chief Roundtable and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Omega Delta Omega Chapter.
