Sookyoung Park’s (park2363@umn.edu) research interests include acculturation, youth aging out of foster and institutional care, child protection workforce stability perceptions, adolescent mental health, advance care directives, and out-of-home placement care for children. She has worked on a publication on faculty perceptions of the COVID-19 pandemic and a scoping study on Somali parenting practices in the US, and is currently working on Asian American parenting practices concerning racism. Sookyoung received her bachelor's degree in International Studies from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea. While earning her master's degree in Social Welfare from Seoul National University in Seoul, South Korea, she studied extensively on quantitative research methods. She completed her practicum at Holt Children’s Services, Inc. in Seoul, South Korea, where she researched for the Social Services Strategy Team’s pilot project helping underprivileged children and children with disabilities, and administrated in teenage single mother projects. She has worked as a volunteer at Hillsong Africa Foundation in Cape Town, South Africa. Sookyoung has presented on various topics at Social Work related conferences in Beijing (Renmin University, 2017), Dublin (SWSD2018), and Seoul (Yonsei University, 2017). She is interested in adolescent mental health, out-of-home placement care for children, youth aging out of foster and institutional care, child abuse and neglect, crossover youth, implementation science, acculturation, child protection workforce stability perceptions, and advance care directives. Her advisor is Dr. Wendy Haight and she currently works as a Research Assistant for Dr. Wendy Haight.
