Abbie Nelson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and current doctoral student and graduate assistant at Michigan State University. She has a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Belmont University and a Master’s in Social Work from Baylor University, with ten years of experience practicing in Tennessee, Texas, Guatemala, and Mexico. Her clinical focus is trauma, sexual abuse, and intimate partner violence particularly with the Latinx population. Her research interests include international social work, gender violence, culturally relevant evidenced based practice, and mind body spirit interventions. She is currently an instructor for the Human Services department at Lansing Community College, as well as a yoga instructor in the local community.
