N. Eugene Walls, MSSW, PhD (he/him/his) is a professor at the Graduate School of Social Work at the University Denver. He is a community practice specialist whose work focuses on risk and resilience of marginalized communities; social work education about issues of power, privilege, and oppression; and modern forms of prejudice. His scholarship has primarily examined these issues as they relate to the LGBQT/NB community with a focus on intersectionality. He currently works closely with community partners on research, including One Colorado and Denver Public Health. After completing his MSSW at the University of Texas at Austin, Walls worked as a community-based social worker in the practice areas of disability services, therapeutic foster care, and homelessness interventions for almost nine years. He then returned to graduate school to complete his doctorate in sociology at the University of Notre Dame. Since 2005, he has been a faculty member at the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver.
