Dr. Chris E. Martin graduated from the University of Iowa and is currently an Associate Professor and Admissions Coordinator at St. Ambrose University where she teaches across the social work curriculum but specializes in teaching practice and diversity and advanced practice courses. She completed her dissertation in 2014 on the role of implicit racial bias on decision-making with teachers referring African American children to special education as an explanation for the disproportionality reported across the country. She developed a 6 hour implicit bias learning exchange for the Iowa Department of Human Services which continues to be presented across the state to employees of DHS and committed community partners and individuals. In addition, she supports social work students in the student-led, pro-bono Interprofessional Clinic at St. Ambrose University and is dedicated to interprofessional practice.
