Behavioral health and justice became a focused interest for Cat during her undergraduate studies in Ann Arbor, where she researched neural substrates of addiction. Her subsequent return to Detroit, a city rich in every-day contradictions and compassion, impressed in her the principles of social work as grounds for justice-oriented practice. She earned her MSW from WSU, presented research on the Flint Water Crisis at the Society for Social Work Research conference, and assisted with research on the benefits of culturally-specific care for Latinx survivors of intimate partner violence. She worked for the Center for Social Work Research before joining CBHJ in August, 2019. Cat strives to show up for an inclusive community by engaging politically, by enjoying neighborhood softball, and by providing hospitality at the Detroit Catholic Worker, Day House.
