Dr. Aguilar is an associate professor in social work at Fordham University. Dr. Aguilar has published extensively on Human Behavior in the Social Environment topics as well as teaching and redesigning courses in this area. Dr. Aguilar conducts research on the intersection of health and social work, multilevel interventions, and most currently oppression in the United States of America. Dr. Aguilar has published in prominent social work journals including the Journal of Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Culture, Health, and Sexuality, Social Work in Mental Health, as well as Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment, and Trauma. Dr. Aguilar has also co-edited, "Decolonizing Human Behavior in the Social Environment: A reader for an Anti-oppressive Approach", and is currently writing "The Practice of Human Behavior in the Social Environment" under contract with Kendall Publishing. Dr. Aguilar received his MSW and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. He currently operates a small private practice for low-income families, consults on human behavior in the social environment curriculum, and trains community and professional groups about diversity, trauma, and engaging in research methods for practice.
