Learning Objectives:
The first objective of this presentation is to provide insight into common problems student-athletes face as they consider pursuing social work education at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The second objective is to offer insight on creating inclusive and meaningful field placement opportunities for student-athletes in various settings.
. The third objective of this presentation is to briefly highlight how various social work concepts (person-in-environment, systems theory, strengths perspective, etc.) correspond to college athletics. Strategies related to collaborating with athletic departments and promoting social work as a choice area of study among student-athletes will be presented.
