Jean-Nicolas "J-N" Gallant, MD, PhD is a PGY3 resident in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). He completed his undergraduate studies in Chemistry and Anthropology at Amherst College, where he completed a chemical biology honors thesis under the direction of Anthony Bishop, PhD. Prior to joining the Vanderbilt University's Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), he spent two years researching cancer drug development with Wafik El-Deiry, MD, PhD at the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute. As part of Vanderbilt's MSTP, J-N completed his PhD in cancer biology, under the direction of Christine Lovly, MD, PhD, focusing on EGFR alterations in lung cancer. He joined Vanderbilt's OHNS residency program with a goal of becoming a surgeon scientist. His interests lie at the intersection of big data, surgery, and genetics.
