Akina Tamaki, MD is an Assistant Professor and Associate Residency Program Director at Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. She is a board-certified otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon with fellowship training in head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgery. Her special interests include head and neck cancer and microvascular reconstruction. She also has interest in treating various other head and neck ailments, including thyroid and parathyroid disease, skin cancers, paraganglioma and salivary gland diseases. She is also certified in transoral robotic surgery.
Dr. Tamaki has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and books. Her research interests include improving outcomes of complex head and neck reconstruction and improving the quality of care for head and neck cancer patients. She is also passionate about medical education and is the Associate Residency Program Director at Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Tamaki has a bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and earned her medical degree from University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her residency at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. She then completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at The Ohio State University.
