Thomas J. Ow, MD, MS, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery with a secondary appointment in the Department of Pathology. He also serves as the Clinical Education Coordinator of the Cancer Committee at Albert Einstein Cancer Center and Montefiore. His clinical focus is on the surgical treatment of tumors in the head and neck region, including those that occur in the mouth, throat, larynx, sinuses, salivary glands, and thyroid gland. He also specializes in the surgical treatment of skin cancers that occur on the scalp, face, and neck.
Dr. Ow received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 2000 at Lawrence University. In 2004, he received his Doctor of Medicine at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Ow then received his Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Texas, Health Science Center. In 2017, he also completed the Clinical Research Training Program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Ow completed an internship in General Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in 2005. He then completed a residency in Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Montefiore. He completed a research fellowship and a clinical fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the University of Texas from 2009 to 2012.
Dr. Ow's research focuses on the translation of genetic and molecular features of head and neck squamous cell cancer into clinically useful biomarkers and therapeutic targets. His work has been published in a number of journals, books, and review articles.
Dr. Ow is currently the Vice Chair of the Cutaneous Cancer Section of the American Head and Neck Society.
