Pediatric rhinitis can be one of the most frequent clinical management scenarios that a pediatric otolaryngologist will face in their day-to-day practice. Unfortunately the evaluation, management, and surgical interventions to manage pediatric rhinitis are far from standardized and have limited data driven outcomes. This unique panel of experts within the field of pediatric rhinology will use their wealth of experience and data to present the audience with a case-based approach to the management of pediatric rhinitis. The goals of the mini-seminar are to educate the audience on the work up and management of pediatric allergic and non-allergic rhinitis. We will present clinical scenarios to demonstrate the variety of options available to the pediatric otolaryngologist. Are all runny noses chronic sinusitis? We will discuss the work up of pediatric chronic sinusitis – stressing the importance of making the correct diagnosis initially and then reviewing the medical and surgical management options. We will explore the role of nasal sprays, irrigations, immunotherapy, biologics, and medical therapy. Surgical intervention for the management of chronic rhinosinusitis will also be reviewed and surgical outcomes discussed. Pediatric anosmia has also been on the rise since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The panel will discuss the testing and work up of a patient with complaints of anosmia. We will review the treatment options available and the data available to support their use. By the completion of the mini-seminar attendees should feel confident in their work up and management of pediatric rhinitis.
