Thomas completed his residency in psychiatry at University of Washington. . He has continued on at UW in a psychosomatic/consult-liaison fellowship, and is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. Clinically he has worked on inpatient psychiatry, the psychiatry consult-liaison service, a primary care consult psychiatrist in a collaborative care clinic (BHIP), and is currently the director of transplant psychiatry in the solid organ transplant program. In those roles he places a strong focus on teaching psychiatry, to both future psychiatrists, primary care colleagues, and a wide range of other medical trainees. Leadership and education are at the core of Thomas’s academic interests. Thomas strives to push the envelope of education though his teaching methods and creativity in his role as CL Fellowship Director at the University of Washington.
