Trained as a sociologist, I primarily serve as a qualitative methodologist at the Center to Improve Veteran Involvement in Care (CIVIC) at the VA Portland Health Care System consulting on multiple levels of qualitative study design, data collection and organization, analysis, and manuscript development. I have worked and published on a broad range of topics with health services research including understanding primary care encounters of veterans experiencing interpersonal violence, suicide prevention in clinical settings, supporting employees across the VA to initiate innovative practices, understanding the multi-level impacts of increased interprofessional education and practice in primary care clinics, among others. Other interests include the community reentry process for those leaving the criminal legal system and have recently co-authored a qualitative book describing these experiences.
