Learning is a highly complex process. The good news is that a small set of elements make learning much more effective, and effective educators ensure those elements are present. What is impressive is that learning does not really differ, whether teaching happens through a didactic, chalk talk, precepting, or any other strategy. The essential processes are all very similar across learning experiences. If the elements are there, learning will almost certainly occur. In this session, we will take a practical look at foundational aspects of learning and the connections that drive the entire learning process.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to describe three elements essential to the learning process.
Participants will be able to explain how cognitive load may limit learning and how it may be used to enhance learning.
Participants will be able to implement new strategies that enhance their learner’s ability to remember learned information.
