Ms Larson has 40+ years in the field of clinical nursing and nursing education. Professional positions in nursing include pediatrics, maternal/ child health, public health, school nursing, home health, and psychiatric/ mental health. Current clinical practice is focused in psychiatric/ mental nursing spanning 25+ years. Ms Larson has held several advanced practice nursing provider positions in psychiatric consult/ liaison services, inpatient psychiatric settings, and outpatient medication management programs w/ a clinical practice focused in providing psychiatric/ mental health care to pediatric populations. Ms Larson's current practice and passion is focused in the integration of psychiatry/ mental health nursing concepts and evidence-based behavioral nursing interventions into the every day, any care setting practices of nurses caring for patients with a variety of challenging behaviors. Her work involves teaching, role-modeling, and mentoring nurses from the classroom, to the bedside, to community practice, and in advanced practice roles.
Teaching experience includes 20+ years in full and part-time academic appointments in psychiatric/ mental health nursing at several New England undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Currently, Ms Larson is part-time clinical faculty in psychiatric/ mental health nursing at the University of New England in Biddeford and Portland, ME. Bridget is a 30+ year member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society; holding currently and past leadership positions.
When away from her professional activities, Ms Larson enjoys reading psych thrillers, listening to classical instrumental/ vocal music, all types of theatre venues, enjoying the beautiful coastlines of New England, especially those of Maine and Cape Cod.
