Dr. Hager received his MD from University of Rochester School of Medicine, and completed residency in psychiatry and fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Hager's scholarly interests include unipolar depressive disorders treatment, treatment resistant depression, HIV psychiatry, transgender psychiatry, and behavioral health primary care integration, including teleconsultation approaches to treating mental disorders in primary care and specialty settings. His educational interests focus on trainee education in basic psychiatric concepts and treatment practices, including those involved in HIV psychiatry, transgender psychiatry, and behavioral health primary care integration. His service interests comprise provision of comprehensive, psychotherapeutically informed, evidence-based care to persons living with HIV, transgender / gender non-binary persons, and persons with comorbid psychiatric disorders and severe or chronic medical illness.
