Dr. Joe Bledowski received his M.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia where he also completed his residency in Psychiatry and fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. Dr. Bledowski subsequently assumed the position of Medical Director of the Short-Term Admission Team/Crisis Stabilization Unit at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System before accepting the role of Medical Director of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at the University of Utah Hospital, where he was also an Associate Professor of Psychiatry. He most recently served as the Medical Director of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, the major tertiary care, level 1 trauma center and only Burn Center in the heart of our nation's capital. Dr. Bledowski has received numerous clinical teaching awards and has played an active role in medical education and in the training/supervision of Psychiatry residents as well as Consultation-Liaison fellows throughout his career. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on various topics, including: delirium, somatoform disorders, psychopharmacology, and substance use disorders in the medically ill. Dr. Bledowski is board certified in Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
