Dr. Allison Deutch grew up in Long Island, NY. She attended Cornell University and went on to earn her Medical Degree from SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Deutch completed her Psychiatry Residency at NYU School of Medicine and was a member of the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry 2014-2015 Fellowship class. Dr. Deutch joined the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry service at Tisch in 2015 and has served in various capacities during her tenure on the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry service and in took on the role of Site Director For Women’s Mental Health in 2020. Through close collaboration with her colleagues in the Department of OB/GYN she helped to create a second WMH Fellowship position and is also working to expand the WMH currently available at NYU including the development of an outpatient perinatal psychiatry program at The NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Center, East 53rd Street location. On the inpatient side, Dr. Deutch is working to expand the availability of proactive consultation services to high-risk obstetric patients. Her major areas of interest include the development of psychopathology in women with adverse obstetrical outcomes including perinatal loss, stillbirth, critically ill neonates, and surgical complications, as well as the impact of Breast is Best on women’s breastfeeding experiences. Dr. Deutch has presented on various women’s mental health topics at national meetings including ACLP and recently published an article entitled “Psychiatric Evaluation of The Peripartum Patient.” She has also been a guest speaker on Dr. Radio, and quoted in magazines such as SELF and SHAPE.
