Resident Physician
University of Florida
I am a current 3rd year Psychiatry resident at the University of Florida College of Medicine with the expertise, training, and motivation necessary to contribute to this research project. I have a research background in a variety of disciplines. As a summer intern at Masonic Medical Research Institute, I carried out optical mapping studies of human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes) through the use of calcium- and voltage- sensitive dyes. I expanded my knowledge in stem cell research as a summer intern at Harvard Stem Cell Institute / Massachusetts General Hospital in the Dr. Karmacharya lab where I studied dendritic spines of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neurons in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Transferring to the University of Florida as a part of the Medical Honors Program, an accelerated B.S./M.D. program, I performed an undergraduate thesis in the field of Radiation Oncology, studying dose-response outcomes of lung cancer radiotherapy. While in medical school, I was able to balance clinical work with research, studying various topics in pathology and anesthesiology. Collaborating with other researchers, I have produced several peer-reviewed publications. As a result of these research experiences, I understand the work that goes into a successful research project and the communication between researchers that is necessary to efficiently complete a project. During residency, I completed my intern year with the Department of Anesthesiology. I joined the Department of Psychiatry in July of 2021 with goals of pursuing a career in neuromodulation and consult-liaison psychiatry.
