Dr. Nancy Beckman is an Assistant Professor and Director of Health Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neuroscience at The University of Chicago. She has over 10 years of postdoctoral experience providing evidence-based psychological treatment to people with primary behavioral health issues or comorbid medical and mental health conditions. She provides these services within various departments within the hospital including Psychiatry, Primary Care, the Pain Management Clinic, and Hematology Oncology. She is committed to increasing access to mental health services through behavioral health integration and established the co-located integrated behavioral medicine clinic in primary care and the pain psychology service. She is also heavily involved in clinical training of psychologists and regularly lectures to providers in other departments and hospitals. Dr. Beckman teaches the use of patient-centered language to address common mental health concerns and to promote self-management of chronic conditions. She is also involved in research examining the processes of behavioral health integration and the use brief psychological interventions for chronic pain.
